Why GOSI is easy to get wrong
Contribution rules differ by nationality. Bahraini employees and their employers pay towards pension and unemployment insurance, and the employer share has been rising in stages. Non-GCC expatriates are covered for work injury, and since March 2024 employers also pay a monthly end of service contribution for expatriate staff through the SIO.
Each of these is calculated on an insurable salary that is not always the same as gross pay. A spreadsheet that worked last year may not be right this year.
How Pragma calculates contributions
Each employee record carries nationality, insurable salary and start date. On every payroll run, Pragma applies the current rules, separates employer and employee shares, and posts the liability to the ledger. Rates are maintained centrally and updated when the law changes.
- Bahraini and expatriate rules applied automatically
- Expatriate end of service contributions each month
- Employer and employee shares shown separately
- Monthly contribution summary for payment
- History of every rate change applied
A rate change, handled
When the SIO announces a new rate, Pragma updates its rules and your next run uses them. You see the effect on cost before you approve. Always check current figures against official SIO guidance.
